Sunday mornings, from 8:45–9:45 AM, everyone aged two years and above is invited to plug into a class. For those aged 7th grade to adult, a few electives are usually available on a variety of meaty and encouraging topics. Learn about the SCBC Education Plan for a description of the scope and aims of our adult electives.
Current Adult Elective (beginning June 25, 2017):
Scripture, Truth, & Worldviews
Modern thought follows a deep root system back into the Age of Enlightenment, where personal autonomy and human reason ruled the day. Even as Christians, we can be more influenced by these humanistic foundations than we realize, and prone to be governed by secular philosophies rather than the Mind of Christ. This summer, take a journey into your head and heart as we examine closely what motivates and informs our thinking and learn to take every thought captive to the truths of Scripture. Pastor Curtis leads our six-week class for all adults 7th grade and up on Sunday mornings at 8:45 AM. Class begins June 25 and runs through the month of July. (There is no Discipleship Hour in August)
Kids in grades K-4 will be taught from the Answers Bible Curriculum, which covers the entire Bible chronologically and provides a thorough understanding of the authority and primary teachings of Scripture. All ages will be equipped to defend the Bible and become conformed to the image of Christ as they apply God’s Word to their lives. Concepts include the trustworthiness of Scripture, the attributes of God, His plan of redemption, apologetics, and more! 5th and 6th graders will work through a special curriculum preparing them to jump into adult classes from 7th grade on. Contact Rob Freeman for more info on these classes.
