Discipleship Hour

Sunday mornings, from 8:45–9:45 AM, everyone aged two years and above is invited to plug into a class. For those aged 7th grade to adult, a few electives are usually available on a variety of meaty and encouraging topics. Learn about the SCBC Education Plan for a description of the scope and aims of our adult electives.

Current Adult Electives (beginning January 15, 2017):

Resolving Everyday Conflict

Conflict is an inevitable part of interacting with other sinners in a fallen world. And yet harmony and restoration of relationships is possible through the grace of God and faithful effort at Biblical peacemaking. Take in a practical study of Ken Sande’s “Resolving Everyday Conflict” book and DVD this quarter during Discipleship Hour on Sundays at 8:45 (beginning January 15). You’ll gain help and encouragement for navigating routine conflicts in a God-glorifying manner! Cost is $7; sign up in the foyer.

Creation According to Scripture

Examine the evidence for a literal interpretation of the Genesis creation account, first in Scripture and then other geological and astronomical sources, in this fascinating class for anyone 7th grade and up. Kim Scott from Rome Community Bible Church will be our guest instructor, and his heart for affirming the inerrancy and sufficiency of God’s Word will be a blessing to you as together we discover why His story is the only logical, consistent explanation of origins! Class begins January 15 at 8:45 AM; sign up in foyer.

Children’s Classes

Kids in grades K-4 will be taught from the Answers Bible Curriculum, which covers the entire Bible chronologically and provides a thorough understanding of the authority and primary teachings of Scripture. All ages will be equipped to defend the Bible and become conformed to the image of Christ as they apply God’s Word to their lives. Concepts include the trustworthiness of Scripture, the attributes of God, His plan of redemption, apologetics, and more! 5th and 6th graders will work through a special curriculum preparing them to jump into adult classes from 7th grade on. Contact Rob Freeman for more info on these classes.
