Sunday mornings, from 8:45–9:45 AM, everyone aged two years and above is invited to plug into a class. For those aged 7th grade to adult, a few electives are usually available on a variety of meaty and encouraging topics. Learn about the SCBC Education Plan for a description of the scope and aims of our adult electives.
Current Adult Elective (beginning September 17, 2017):
Studying the End Times: The Hope of Christ’s Return
He’s coming again! Exciting anticipation awaits you if you take time to study what Scripture teaches about Christ’s return, Satan’s demise, the tribulation, the promises of God regarding His kingdom, His judgment, and our resurrection. Take the intimidation out of everything from the rapture to the antichrist, from God’s covenants to the future of Israel, and enjoy the freedom of interpreting the Bible’s “last things” in a plain grammatical-historical manner. This class led by Pastor Mark should give you hope for tomorrow and motivation for holiness today.
Please note: the first class will be held September 17 at 10:30 AM (not the usual 8:45 time) allowing us to have our men’s retreat speaker, Donald Whitney, preach in a special 8:45 AM morning service.
Kids in grades K-4 will be taught from the Answers Bible Curriculum, which covers the entire Bible chronologically and provides a thorough understanding of the authority and primary teachings of Scripture. All ages will be equipped to defend the Bible and become conformed to the image of Christ as they apply God’s Word to their lives. Concepts include the trustworthiness of Scripture, the attributes of God, His plan of redemption, apologetics, and more! 5th and 6th graders will work through a special curriculum preparing them to jump into adult classes from 7th grade on. Contact Rob Freeman for more info on these classes.
During the Fall 2017 quarter, we are introducing a special transitions class for children preparing to move into adult electives. “Essential Truths” follows our 5th & 6th grade class, but is open to any kids ready for the next step in Discipleship Hour, as it will utilize catechism-based instruction to give kids a foundational understanding of the major doctrines that form our adult Education Plan. Placement into this class is entirely at the parents’ discretion and they are welcome to come and take in the material with their kids on Sundays at 8:45 AM. Contact John K. for more info.
