Discipleship Hour

Sunday mornings, from 8:45–9:45 AM, everyone aged two years and above is invited to plug into a class. For those aged 7th grade to adult, a few electives are usually available on a variety of meaty and encouraging topics. Learn about the SCBC Education Plan for a description of the scope and aims of our adult electives.

Current Adult Electives (beginning September 18, 2016):

Unpacking Forgiveness

Why do we often dread the thought of studying forgiveness? Because we fear we may need to do things that could leave us miserable. The truth is, working out what we believe biblically is God’s path of unloading heavy burdens. Focus on Christ and let Scripture give practical answers to hard questions on: seeking forgiveness, forgiving the unrepentant, defeating bitterness, knowing how to rightly overlook sin, and discerning what to do when Christians just can’t agree. Pastor Mark leads this interactive study of
Unpacking Forgiveness by Chris Brauns, and other key Bible passages. Book cost is $12.00; sign up in the foyer.

Warning Signs: A Study of Jonah

Jonah may be one of the most recognizable Old Testament figures…after all, it’s not often that someone gets thrown into the belly of a fish. His graphic experiences are included in Scripture for very specific purposes and this fall, we’ll have the opportunity to study what they are! Discover what Jonah’s story reveals about our strong, patient, and merciful God as Scott Macdonald leads us in a Home Bible Study-style class offered instead on Sunday mornings this quarter. You’ll read and meditate on the study material individually each week and then enjoy discussing it as a group. Cost: $5; sign up in foyer.

Children’s Classes

Kids in grades K-4 will be taught from the Answers Bible Curriculum, which covers the entire Bible chronologically and provides a thorough understanding of the authority and primary teachings of Scripture. All ages will be equipped to defend the Bible and become conformed to the image of Christ as they apply God’s Word to their lives. Concepts include the trustworthiness of Scripture, the attributes of God, His plan of redemption, apologetics, and more! 5th and 6th graders will work through a special curriculum preparing them to jump into adult classes from 7th grade on. Contact Rob Freeman for more info on these classes.
