Sunday mornings, from 8:45–9:45 AM, everyone aged two years and above is invited to plug into a class. For those aged 7th grade to adult, a few electives are usually available on a variety of meaty and encouraging topics. Learn about the SCBC Education Plan for a description of the scope and aims of our adult electives.
Current Adult Electives (beginning April 30, 2017):
An Introduction to New Testament Exegesis
In this class, taught by Phil Gons, we’ll lay the foundation for how to understand the meaning of passages in the New Testament by establishing core principles, methods, and tools for Bible study. We’ll then apply that foundation as we interpret and unpack a variety of texts together. Whether you’re new to personal Bible study or have been doing it for years, this class will equip you to better understand the New Testament and apply it to your life. All adults 7th grade and up are invited
to join us on Sunday mornings at 8:45 beginning April 30. Sign up in the foyer.
Evangelism in Action
Whether a relative, a classmate, or a neighbor, we all have someone in our lives that needs to hear the saving message of the gospel, yet too often we fail to courageously speak up and share the truth of Scripture with them. Arm yourself to defend and articulate your faith more effectively with this training course using video instruction and practical, real-life examples from Todd Friel (Wretched Radio) and also the Way of the Master program. Class will be led by Zachary Balvanz
on Sunday mornings at 8:45 beginning April 30. Sign up in the foyer.
Sermon on the Mount
Far more than a collection of pithy statements for coffee mugs and wall hangings, the Sermon on the Mount carries deep implications for our everyday lives as Christian women. It reveals for us a gospel-centered approach to sin, to the Law, and to our interactions with others. Ladies 7th grade and up are invited to dig into this pivotal section of Christ’s teaching on Sunday mornings at 8:45 as Christine Blankenship leads us through a book and DVD study from author and speaker Jen Wilkin. This six-week class begins April 30 and books are $10 each. Sign up in the foyer.
Kids in grades K-4 will be taught from the Answers Bible Curriculum, which covers the entire Bible chronologically and provides a thorough understanding of the authority and primary teachings of Scripture. All ages will be equipped to defend the Bible and become conformed to the image of Christ as they apply God’s Word to their lives. Concepts include the trustworthiness of Scripture, the attributes of God, His plan of redemption, apologetics, and more! 5th and 6th graders will work through a special curriculum preparing them to jump into adult classes from 7th grade on. Contact Rob Freeman for more info on these classes.
